Mr. Rufus Edmond Barton, age 83 of Rome passed away Saturday December 6, 2014 at his daughters residence.
Mr. Barton was born June 22, 1931, in Floyd County, a son of the late Hubert Lonzo Barton, and Lois Lucile Ledfrod Barton. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mr. Barton was retired from Temple Inland after 40 years of service, he was a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM. Mr. Barton was a veteran of Untied States Army, and a avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Hampton Barton, a daughter, Cheryl Wilson, sisters, Betty Barton, Lois Blanton, Gail Koger, brother in law, Gene Blanton.
Survivor include, daughter and son in law, Teresa and David Stewart, Rome; son Danny E. Barton, Rome; grandchildren, Cristal Swann, Tara Stewart, Keisha (Eric) Tanner, Tracy (Stephanie) Stewart, Daniel Barton, Nikki Barton, several great grandchildren, sister, Patsy (Fred) Johnson, Adairsville; brother in law, Millard Koger, several nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Molly.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 9, 2014 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Rodger Whorton, officiating.
