Sally MacLeod Obituary
Born on December 24th, 1944, in Columbus, Ga to W.E. and Teace Powell, Mrs. MacLeod passed away on September 28th, 2015. Mrs. MacLeod was raised in Brunswick and Rome, Ga and graduated from Wesleyan College in 1963 and subsequently received a Masters of Education from Berry College in 1983. She married Jeff MacLeod in 1966 and has two children, Skye and Eric.
A lifelong educator, Mrs. MacLeod taught at city and county schools, but the longest at Darlington School for a total of 30 years. At Darlington, she was the Assistant Principal for the Middle School, as well as teacher of math and science. She received many teaching awards and was well known for her compassionate teaching and dedication to students.
Mrs. MacLeod is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Jeffrey MacLeod; two children, Lesley Skye MacLeod of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and William Eric MacLeod, Sr. of Sea Island, Georgia; son in law, William Aycock Mills; daughter in law, Anne DeDeyn MacLeod; four grandchildren, Carlisle Louise Mills, MacLeod Hamilton Mills, William Eric MacLeod Jr, Avery Carson MacLeod; Sisters Susan Powell Farmer and Betsy Powell Minshew.
Visitation begins at 4pm Friday October 2, 2015, with the Service following at 6pm at Beech Creek United Methodist Church located 2972 Alabama Hwy, Rome, Ga 30165
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA and the Beech Creek United Methodist Church.
