On June 17th, 2020 Sharan Anne Burgdorf passed away in her home. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill Burgdorf, as well as her four children, Will, Aleah, Adam, and Annabeth.
Sharan was born on June 3, 1955 in Rome, GA and grew up in Cedartown, GA with her two sisters and brother.
On November 1, 1975 she married Bill Burgdorf and a few years later they moved to Marietta, before settling in Kennesaw in 1982.
Sharan had a passion for helping people and was very active with PTSA at her children's schools. In 1997 she achieved her lifelong dream of obtaining her Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education Degree from Brenau University and becoming a teacher for the Cobb County School District. She continued her education at Brenau, earning her Master's Degree in Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in Education, Administration, and Supervision in 2002 from Lincoln Memorial University. Sharan continued to work as a lead for the Cobb County School District until she retired in 2017.
Throughout her life, Sharan had a love of learning, gardening, sewing, and helping animals. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Georgia Animal Project at P.O. Box 689, Holly Springs, GA, 30142.
A memorial service will be held at Marietta First Baptist Church in Marietta at 2pm on Sunday July 19th.
