Shelby Jean Battles Christie
Mrs. Shelby Jean Battles Christie, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Christie was born in Floyd County on January 3, 1938, daughter of the late Frank Battles and the late Thelma Vines Battles. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nelda Battles Cole.
Mrs. Christie was a Christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Rome, Georgia. She was also a homemaker as well as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Along with being a Harbin Clinic volunteer, Mrs. Christie was involved in numerous civic clubs and organizations including the Westside Homemakers Club, Rambling Rose Club, Red Hat Society Chapter 1, the Shirley Randall W.M.U. group at Fellowship Baptist Church, a charter member of the Rome Doll Collector's Society, and President of the Floyd County Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Christie, Rome; two sons, Douglas Christie and his wife, Vickie, Rome; Tony Christie and his wife Lesha, Lawton, OK; and a daughter, Kendra Christie Falcitelli and her husband Chris, Rome; a sister, Wanda Battles Murphy, Rome; a brother, John Battles, and his wife, Beverly, Acworth; grandchildren, Jennifer Christie, Jonathan Christie, Melodie Christie Sideris, Jamison Christie, Tiffany Haulk James, Amanda Haulk Williams, Joseph Christie, Jared Christie, Joy Christie, ZebFalcitelli, and Joe Falcitelli;great grandchildren, Cate Christie and Cole Christie; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Dr. Dale Levan and Reverend Tony Christie officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, on Wednesday evening, from 5 until 8 p.m. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers will include Joseph Christie, Jared Christie, ZebFalcitelli, Jamison Christie, Russell Murphy, Danny Cole, Dennis Autry, David Holbrook, and Jonathan Christie.
