Sherman Waits Obituary
Mr. Sherman Ronald Waits, age 72, of Rome passed away Saturday June 12, 2021 in a local hospital.
Mr. Waits was born December 26, 1948 in Floyd County a son of the late Doyce Jackson Waits, and Thelma Foy Baker Waits. He was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. He was retired from Kay Townes Antenna and General Electric. Mr. Waits was a member of Oostanaula Masonic Lodge #113 F&AM and the Yaarab Shriner's Club. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Waits, Scott Waits, his twin brother Thurman Waits, sister, Sharon Gilmore.
Survivors include his wife to whom he was married on February 2, 1975, Emerye Kelley Waits, sons, Jeffery Scott Ruff, and Brian Christopher Waits, daughter, Kerry Leigh Waits Williams, sisters, Glenda Couey, and Doris Brock, grandchildren, Noah Jackson Waits, Alexandria Nicole Middleton, Patrick "PJ" Haswell Williams, Leland Ronald Williams, Chandler Ruff, Conner Ruff, and Cole Ruff, great grandson, Jeremiah Isaiah Thomas Starr, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with , Rev. Billy Fricks officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens, with Oostanaula Masonic Lodge #113 F&AM will be conducting Masonic Graveside Rites.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday. June 15, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen, Allen Couey, Timmy Couey, Don Lanham, PJ Williams, Leland Williams, Noah Waits.
