Wesley Kinard Obituary

Mr. Wesley Gray (Doot) Kinard, age 65, of Rome, GA, passed away after an extended illness at Floyd Medical Center on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Wesley was born in Elkhart, Indiana on March 20, 1956, son of the late William Doss (WD) Kinard and the late Sarah Frances Morgan Kinard. He was retired from the City of Rome Fire Department and Basic Ready Mix as a Sales Manager. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his infant sister, his brother, Bob Kinard, his brother-in-law, Jim Cotton, and his brother, James William Kinard (Bill).

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Robbins Kinard, to whom he was married on April 6, 1973; a son, Wesley James (Jamie) Kinard and his wife Tifani Stroup Kinard, Rome; a daughter April Kinard Peeler, Rome; a sister, Sue Cotton, Augusta; a sister-in-law, Sue Kinard Bennett and her husband Rowell Bennett, Rome; a sister-in-law, Lucille Ingram and
her husband Lonnie Ingram, Silver Creek; three grandchildren: Candice Peeler (Macon); Elizabeth Kinard (Rome), and Ethan Kinard (Rome) who were forever loved by their PawPaw; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survived.

Wesley was an avid outdoorsman. As a younger man, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. His favorite outdoor companion was his son, Jamie. As he grew older, he and Patricia enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, and RV-Boondocking. As a family, holiday cookouts were standard, as well as vacations with family and friends alike. As his illness progressed, he was robbed of his independence and enjoyment of those very things which made him Wesley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. His service will be officiated by City of Rome Fire Department Chaplin, Ray Plymel, and dear family friend, Danny Little, will share fond memories. He will be taken to Good Shepherd Funeral Home on date to lie in state from 12 PM to 2 PM prior to the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Floyd Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home at December 10 at 1:00. They are as follows: Buddy Kinard, Corbin Sisson, Kane Popham, Stephen Robbins, Cody Mills, and Dayln Roberson. Honorary Pallbearers will include Jim McCullough, Ed Chastain, Dale Smith, Lonnie Ingram, and Rowell Bennett. The Fraternal Order of Firefighters will provide Honor Service throughout the service, including the final ringing of the bell
