Angeline Stone Obituary

Mrs. Stone 1933-2014

Angeline Cooley Stone of Rome went home to be with her Savior and Lord on August 10, 2014. A musician since childhood, her heart and home were filled with music that she used her entire life in service to the Lord. She was the only child of Herman and Alice Cooley who preceded her in death. Mrs. Stone (Angie) was married for 48 years to her Minister of Music husband, Rev. R. O. Stone who preceded her in death in April 2000. They were high school and college sweethearts. They served the Lord faithfully as a musical team for 48 years. Angie was an accomplished musician and was recognized for her excellence at the keyboard.

Angie and her husband, R.O. served in numerous ministries. She was pianist or organist, children's choir coordinator, directed ladies' ensembles, and taught private piano lessons in the churches where they served, which were Lakewood Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL, First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, FL, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Macon, GA, Mid-City Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL, Dauphin Way Baptist Church, Mobile, AL, and Trinity Baptist Church, Ocala, FL. Each year, a portion of Summer Ministry was given to foreign mission work in Jamaica, Germany, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Angie played the accordion to accompany special music on mission trips. Her philosophy of music was, "Never Stop Studying!" Angie was a faithful member of Hollywood Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. For several years she joyfully served as Director to the Women's Ministries. Until recently, she spoke and played the piano for women's retreats and senior adult groups across the southeast.

Through the years, comments would often be, "Angie is beautiful inside and out." Even though she never boasted of holding seven beauty titles and numerous musical awards, she always said, "The inward beauty is the most important." She loved life, and loved being involved. Life was meaningful, and whatever she did, she took seriously and did to the best of her ability. Love for Christ, love and devotion to her family, love and appreciation for hundreds of caring and praying friends, and a lifetime of serving her Lord could pretty well sum up the life of a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her three sons, and daughters-in-law, Rev. Rick Stone (Rosemary), Huntsville, AL, Rev. Randy Stone (Kala), Clarksville, TN, Rev. Rodney Stone (Tammie), Osage Beach, MO, ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, one of whom preceded her in death. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Jackie Smith, two nieces, one nephew, and families all of Chattanooga, TN.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at West Rome Baptist Church at 4:00 pm on August 14, 2014. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 pm prior to the service. The Stone Brothers and David Harper will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the R.O. Stone Scholarship Fund at Unity Christian School, 2960 New Calhoun Highway, NE, Rome, GA, 30165, the Mission Ministry of Hollywood Baptist Church, 112 Lombardy Way, Rome, GA, 30161, or the Tony E. Mrs. Stone's life verses found in Romans 8:38,39, sums up her life: "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ our Lord."
