It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Calmo Cruz, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world at the age of 63 in Rome, Georgia. Born in the picturesque town of Todos Santos, Guatemala, Anita's life was shaped by her deep-rooted family values, unwavering faith, and an extraordinary capacity for love and service to others. She was the cherished daughter of Celestino Calmo Ahilon and Francisca Cruz, who instilled in her the virtues of hard work, resilience, and devotion.

Anita’s journey through life was marked by both great joy and great loss. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Antonio Carrillo, whose passing 17 years ago left a void she filled with strength and grace. She also joins her great-grandparents, Giani Perez, Isabela Perez, Miguel Mendoza and her brother Clemente Cruz, in eternal rest.

Despite the heartache she faced, Anita’s life was a testament to her remarkable ability to nurture and sustain those around her. She is survived by a loving and close-knit family, including her six devoted sons: Jose Calmo Ahilon (Yelica), Celestino Calmo Ahilon (Modesta), Bernabe Calmo Ahilon, Jesus Calmo Ahilon, Gilberto Calmo Ahilon (Carmen), and Antonio Calmo Ahilon (Josefina); her cherished daughter, Lucrecia Calmo Ahilon (Angel); and a host of grandchildren who brought her endless joy and pride: Alex Geronimo, Silvia, Jessica, Andy, Amilcar, Ahilon, Ashley, Miranda, Reina, Chris, Anita, Princess, Brandon, Maria de Jesus, Yoana, Selena, Candy Sofia, Jose Luis Jr., Miguel Mendoza, Wendy Mendoza, Brenda Mendoza, and Cindy Mendoza, also her great grandchildren, Gionni Perez, Isabela Perez and Miguel Armani Mendoza.

Anita was also a beloved sister to her brothers Teodor Cruz, Clementino Cruz, Santiago Cruz, and Sipriano Cruz, and her sisters, Teodora Cruz, Emiliana Calmo Cruz and Erlinda Cruz, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond that spanned continents and time. Together, they formed a network of support and love, always looking out for one another no matter the distance.

Though humble in her work, Anita’s role as a homemaker was nothing short of heroic. Her home was a place of order, cleanliness, and warmth—meticulously organized, yet always welcoming to anyone in need. She was known for her attention to detail, leaving no task unfinished, no corner untended. Those who entered her home felt the comfort of her care and the peace that came from her nurturing hands. 

Anita’s selflessness was her defining characteristic. Always putting others before herself, she embodied the true meaning of a giving heart. Whether offering a helping hand to her neighbors or going the extra mile for her children and grandchildren, she found fulfillment in the service of others. She had a rare capacity for love, and her compassion knew no limits. Her kindness was both steady and fierce, rooted in her deep faith.

Anita was a devout Pentecostal, guided by her unwavering belief in God and the principles of her faith. Her spirituality was the cornerstone of her life, and she passed those values on to her children, raising them with a foundation of love, hope, and grace. She often shared her faith with those around her, reminding them of God’s enduring love and the power of prayer. Her old-school Pentecostal roots were evident in her actions, her words, and the way she lived her life—always with reverence and respect for the Lord.

For the past 17 years, Anita took on the role of both mother and father, raising her children with determination and boundless love. She was a pillar of strength for her family, guiding them through the challenges of life with wisdom, humor, and an unshakable sense of duty. Her children were her greatest pride, and she instilled in them the same values of hard work, integrity, and faith that shaped her own life.

The family has entrusted Anita’s final arrangements to Good Shepherd Funeral Home. The family will have a public viewing on Thursday, September 12 at Good Sheperd Funeral Home from 2:00PM till 9:00PM, a 24-hour viewing at Iglesia Pentecostes Buenas Nuevas #14 located at 1425 North Broad St. SW in Rome, GA 30161 on Friday, September 13th from 10:00AM till the following day, Saturday, September 14 at 7:00PM where they will be having a Funeral Service. The family will have another viewing at their residence, details will be announced soon, her final resting place will be in her hometown in Guatemala. The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

In the hearts of all who knew her, Anita’s memory will live on as a beacon of love, strength, and faith. Though she may have left this earthly plane, her legacy of kindness and devotion will remain, reminding us all of the power of a life well-lived.
