In Loving Memory of
Anthony Dean “T.J.” Burge Jr.
October 19, 1986 – November 2, 2025
Anthony “T.J.” Burge of Rome, Georgia, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 39. He was born in Rome, Georgia, to Rita Bennett Norman and Anthony Dean Burge Sr.
In addition to his devoted mother, T.J. is survived by his sister Shastoni Burge (Christopher Franklin) and his brother Daniel Burge, as well as a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family through the years. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Anthony Norman, and the late Larry Walker, who taught him how to be a man confined to a wheelchair. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents Jean and Marvin Bennett, and Robert and Thelma Burge.
From the very beginning, T.J.’s life was marked by both challenge and triumph. Born with Spina Bifida, he faced a lifetime of physical hardship, yet he refused to let his condition define him. He often said he was “not handicapped, just disabled,” and he lived by that truth every single day. Through every surgery, his faith never wavered. His resilience was like a light that drew people to him and left them better for having known him. Those who met T.J. would never forget him T.J.
T.J. was a fearless warrior who faced all his battles with courage and grace. He loved God with his whole heart and loved others just as deeply. His laughter was contagious, his words uplifting, and his smile seemed to carry heaven’s own light. Through a kind word or a listening ear, T.J. reminded everyone that life is a gift no matter how hard the road may be.
Even in death, T.J.’s giving spirit continued to touch lives. In his 50th and final surgery, he donated his organs so that others might live. What a fitting farewell from a man whose every breath had been an offering of love.
Music was one of T.J.’s greatest joys, it filled his days and lifted his soul.
