Obituary

Austin Vaughn, 80, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Born to the late George Robert Vaughn and Gertrude Wever Vaughn on January 7, 1943, in Centre, Alabama, Mr. Vaughn was a man known for his hard work, easygoing nature, and deep sense of faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Willene Vaughn; his son Randy Eugene Vaughn; and his grandson Jeffrey Vaughn. He leaves behind a loving family including his son Jeffrey Warren Vaughn; his grandchild Riley Vaughn; his brother Donald Ricky Vaughn; and his sister Doris Atkins.

Austin was a dedicated employee at Shaw Industries, where he worked for thirty years as a Carpet Spinner. His work ethic was impeccable, a trait that often led his loved ones to lovingly label him a workaholic. When not immersed in work, Mr. Vaughn found solace in his hobby of collecting Coca-Cola cans, a pursuit that reflected his appreciation for the simple joys in life.

A devout man, Mr. Vaughn had a lifelong love for the church and was an accomplished guitar player. His faith was an anchor in his life, offering him comfort and a sense of purpose.

Austin Vaughn will be dearly missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and unwavering faith.
