Barbara Luther Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Barbara A. O'Shields Luther

October 9, 1936 – September 8, 2024

Barbara Ann O'Shields Luther, age 87, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born in Fulton County, Georgia, on October 9, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late Other and Elizabeth O'Shields.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Barbara found deep joy in her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Perry Luther, with whom she shared many beautiful years of companionship and love. Together, they created a life full of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Other Eugene Ayers and Robert Lowell Ayers, and her daughter, Mary Christine Ayers Tatum, all of whom were the light of her life. Her grandchildren, Travis, Jason, James, Christy, Chris, and Kevin Ayers were blessed to have a grandmother whose heart overflowed with love, wisdom, and unconditional support. Barbara also leaves behind her dear sister, Pat Rowe, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond and countless treasured moments. Her love for family was fierce and constant, and they were the center of her world.

Barbara lived a life of quiet devotion, not only to her family but also to her community and faith. A proud and faithful member of the Eastern Star for many years, she embodied the values of charity, truth, and loving kindness. Her service in this organization was a testament to her generous heart and her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.

She had a passion for ceramics and spent many joyful hours at the Recreational Department in Villa Rica, Georgia, where her creative spirit thrived. Barbara was known creating pieces that reflected her attention to detail and her deep love for beauty. The ceramics she crafted were a reflection of her soul: intricate, thoughtful, and made with love.

Barbara also had a deep affection for Florida, where she found solace in its sandy shores and sunlit skies. Whether it was a family vacation or a quiet retreat, Florida always held a special place in her heart. It was a place of peace and rejuvenation.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church. Friends and family will gather to honor her life, share stories of her kindness, and remember the woman who touched so many lives with her compassion and grace.

Barbara Ann O'Shields Luther leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Rest in peace, sweet Barbara, until we meet again.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home, who will ensure that Barbara’s life is honored in the dignified and loving manner she so richly deserves.
