In Loving Memory of Barbara Faye Pierce McDaniel
November 10, 1966 – September 15, 2025
Barbara Faye Pierce McDaniel, of Centre, Alabama, passed from this life on Monday, September 15, 2025. She was fifty-eight years old. Born in the same town she called home for much of her life, Centre, Alabama, on November 10, 1966, to Robert Earl and Mary Lottie Rogers Pierce, hers was a life rooted deeply in family and community, in laughter that came easily, and in the warmth of a personality too large to be confined by a single room.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Mary Mann (Todd) and Crystal Jackson (Shaun), who carry forward the love and lessons of their mother. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Melissa Garrison (Shayne), who knew Barbara’s welcome as steady and genuine. Her grandchildren; Alexis McDaniel, Abrial Havens, Glendyn Kidd, Rydar Bennett, Shawn Jackson, Bethany Patterson, Cayli Oliver, Jaxon Oliver, and Kaydee Mann, each held a special place in her affections, for Barbara believed that grandchildren were a second chance to love with a freer heart. Little Presley Havens, her great-grandchild, was a bright new blossom on the family tree that she cherished.
Barbara also leaves behind her brothers, Danny Earl Pierce and Terry Wayne Pierce, Sr., and her sister Joyce Marie Wilson, with whom she shared the bonds of childhood that time can never undo.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is also predeceased by her brothers, James Richard Pierce and Glen Osborn Pierce, and by her sister, Loyce P. Rogers. The memory of those gone before her wove a tender shadow through her own story, yet Barbara met life with resilience, choosing laughter over sorrow and joy over despair.
Barbara was a woman of outgoing spirit and boundless energy. She never met a stranger and had a gift for turning chance encounters into lasting friendships. She loved to be at the center of any gathering, not out of vanity, but because she delighted in drawing others in, delighting in the conversation, lifting the mood, and making certain that laughter rose and circled like a bird set free. She lived out loud, unafraid to shine, and she passed that courage on to her children and grandchildren, who knew her as both anchor and spark. Her family was her truest treasure, her proudest work, and her deepest joy.
Visitation for Barbara McDaniel will be held on Thursday, September 18, from 6:00–8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Friday, September 19, at 11:00 AM, with interment at Hebron Cemetery immediately afterward. Reverend Chris Vasser will officiate, and Davey Dover will speak words in her honor. Pallbearers Glendyn Kidd, Brian Heath, Raymond Shaw, Davey Dover, Shaun Jackson, Cavan Lacey, Bryson Heath, and Harley Richardson will carry her to her final rest, each step a testimony of love and respect.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements, standing witness to a life so vivid, so generous, and so fully lived.
