Betty Boyett Obituary

In Loving Memory of Betty Ruth Vaughn Boyett

September 4, 1956 – January 6, 2026

Betty Ruth Vaughn Boyett, of Rome, Georgia, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the age of sixty-nine. She was born on September 4, 1956, in Rome, Georgia, to Jack Donald Vaughn and MaryEllen Lanham Heath, and her life unfolded as a quiet testimony to faithful labor, enduring love, and the beauty born of willing hands.

A woman of steadfast Baptist faith, Betty lived her beliefs not only in word but in service. Her life was stitched together with devotion, patience, and generosity, qualities she poured freely into her family, her work, and her community. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Christopher Jacob Boyett, Corey Denver Boyett (Brandi), and Timotheus James Boyett (Brittney), and to her daughter, Maylana Ellen Boyett. She was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, each cherished deeply and loved without measure.

Betty is also survived by her mother, MaryEllen Lanham Heath; her sister, Cynthia Jewel Knight; her three nieces and six nephews, all of whom carry forward her legacy of warmth and creativity. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Donald Vaughn, and her brother, Jack Daniel Vaughn, whose memories she held close throughout her life.

Betty possessed a rare and beautiful diligence of hand and heart. She found delight in sewing, quilting, and cake decorating, creating works that were not merely useful or celebratory but expressions of care. Many homes were warmed by her quilts, many milestones sweetened by her cakes, each made with intention and love. Her creativity extended further still through candle making, soap crafting, and countless handmade treasures, all born of her curiosity and joy in learning new skills.

Her service to others took many forms. As a foster parent for many years, she opened her home and heart to children in need, offering stability, kindness, and unwavering compassion. She served her community as a school bus driver and as a substitute teacher, roles she embraced with patience and affection, for she truly loved children and believed deeply in their worth.

Music and movement also lived within her. Betty loved singing and dancing, and those who heard her knew the beauty of her voice, a gift that lifted spirits and filled rooms with gladness. Whether through song, craft, or quiet acts of service, she left behind traces of joy wherever she went.

Services to honor Betty’s full and productive life will be held on Saturday January 10, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM. Chaplain Alan Fuller will officiate.
