In Loving Memory of Bill “Hawg” Holloway
June 17, 1959 – November 24, 2025
Bill “Hawg” Holloway, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of sixty-six. He came into the world in Rome on June 17, 1959, the son of James and Barbara Holloway. From the beginning, his life was marked by that steady, unmistakable strength carried by men who know the land they were born on and love the people who walk beside them.
Bill “Hawg” is survived by his wife, Gail Holloway, who stood with him through every season of life. He leaves behind his sons, Josh Brown and Shayne Crider; his daughters, Crystal Loyd and her husband Paul, Brandi Berry and her husband Justin, and Abbigail Berry. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Ben, Paul David, Ezra, Addie, Teresa, Branson, Autumn, and Covey, each one carrying some spark of his humor, his grit, or the warmth he offered so freely. There are many great-grandchildren as well, growing up in a world Bill helped shape with his kindness. He is also survived by his brothers, Butchy Holloway, Bob Anderson, and Mike Holloway; and his sisters, Stacy Holloway Payne and Heidi Monteith. He leaves behind nieces and nephews too, each touched in some way by his loyal heart.
For over fifty years, Bill “Hawg” drove trucks rolling down long roads most men never see. Those who knew him understood that the road was not just his work, but part of who he was. He met strangers and turned them into friends. He stopped for people who needed help and gave whatever he had, even if it was the shirt off his back. That kind of generosity wasn’t a learned skill; it was something born into him, and he lived it without ceremony.
Bill “Hawg” was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and his faith steadied him. He loved his entire family with a love that never wavered. He showed it in the way he told a joke just to see them smile.
Bill loved rodeos. He rode bulls and worked as a team roper, carrying those memories the way a man carries the feel of worn leather, something that never leaves him. He loved UGA football and cheered loudly for the Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed old westerns and taking the ATVs out with his family.
Bill had a big heart and a big presence, and though he has gone on, his spirit lingers in the simple, honest things he loved: a good ride, a full table, a family gathered close, and the steady trust of knowing he had done his best with the life God gave him.
Services to honor Bill’s life will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel on Monday, December 1, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, led by Pastor Berry McColough.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is deeply honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
