Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Pastor Bobby L. Garner
July 9, 1950 – May 27, 2026
Pastor Bobby L. Garner, age 75, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on May 27, 2026. A faithful servant of God, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and cherished friend to many, Bobby leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, heartfelt ministry, and deep love for his family and community.
Born in Rome, Georgia on July 9, 1950, Bobby was the beloved son of the late Maxie Noah Garner and Mary Lou Elizabeth Garner Maloney. From an early age, he developed a passion for music, ministry, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered. His life was a testimony of faith, compassion, and service.
For many years, Bobby worked faithfully as a forklift driver in the carpet industry with Mohawk, providing for his family with dedication and humility. Yet his greatest calling was the ministry God placed upon his heart. As an evangelist and former pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, Bobby devoted countless years to preaching the Gospel, singing praises, and reaching souls for Christ. He attended and was an active member and preachet at the Way of the Cross Church. Whether standing behind the pulpit, playing music, or lifting his voice in worship, he carried a spirit that touched lives and brought comfort and hope to many.
Bobby shared a beautiful and devoted marriage for 56 years with with the love of his life, Freda Garner. Together they built a family grounded in love, faith, and enduring strength.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Freda Garner; his son, Johnny Garner; his brother, Stevie Garner (Sandra); his grandchildren, Johnathan Garner and Rebecca Garner; his great-grandchildren, Sadie Serenity, Selenity, Greyson, and Malachi; along with several cherished nieces and nephews including Sarina Garner, Stevie Garner Jr., and Sam Cash.
Though his family grieves his passing, they find peace in knowing Bobby has been joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents, Maxie and Mary Lou Garner; his daughters, Wanda Garner and Sabrina Ward; his grandson, Tyler Garner; and his niece, Sabrina Ward.
Bobby will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his compassionate heart, his love for people, and the powerful way he shared the Gospel throughout his life. His kindness, humble spirit, and dedication to ministry touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Bobby’s life and ministry on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, with the Visitation beginning at 12:00 PM and Funeral Service following at 2:00 PM. Pastor Allen Lindsey, Pastor Donald Lindsey, and Pastor Steve Kelley will be officiating. Interment to follow at Oaknoll Cemetery.
