In Loving Memory of Bobby Gene Momon
December 7, 1949 – March 28, 2025
On Friday, March March 28, 2025, Bobby Gene Momon, a spirited traveler whose heart delighted in life's simple beauties, passed beyond this mortal realm at the age of seventy-five. Born beneath the gentle skies of Rome, Georgia, on December, 7, 1949, he was the cherished son of the late William Sidney Momon and the late Edna Lee Brownlow Momon.
Bobby journeyed through life with a heart eager for adventure, steering the paths of great metal steeds in service to WSM Trucking, from which he retired after a steadfast and diligent career in transportation. His life's journey took him frequently to the warm sands of Florida, beaches where the ocean whispered its secrets to him and the waves sang lullabies only his heart could hear.
A man of enduring passions, Bobby was fervently devoted to the Georgia Bulldogs, carrying their banner proudly through every triumph and tribulation. His heart raced with excitement at the roar of engines, whether it was amidst the vibrant pulse of NASCAR or astride the thrilling power of motorcycles. Yet, he equally found solace and exhilaration in the gentle companionship of horses, creatures that mirrored the unbridled freedom of his own spirit. Music, particularly the melodies and tales woven through country songs, provided the soundtrack to his days, resonating deeply within his joyful soul.
Above all treasures, Bobby cherished his family. He leaves a legacy lovingly preserved by his son, Shay Momon (Amber); his daughters, Alley Callan and Starla Smith (Chip). His grandchildren, Jenna (Jack) Moore, Knox Callan, Ansley Johnson (Dylan), Colten Momon, Kaydence Momon, and Shaylin Momon, Emily Smith and his significant other Dixie Storey, each bear witness to the loving bonds Bobby nurtured and cherished. His great-grandchildren, Jaxson Moore and Oaklyn Johnson, carry forward his vibrant legacy into the days yet to come. Ever dear to him was his sister, Ann Daniel (Billy), and his beloved nieces, Lynn Daniel and Kate Terry, (Christian) who further enriched the family tapestry Bobby so deeply valued.
To celebrate his life and bid a fond farewell, friends and kin shall gather on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The doors of Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel will open for visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, a Funeral Service will take place the next day, April 2, 2025 at 2:00PM, leading into funeral rites officiated by Mike Davenport and Chip Smith. Bobby shall find his peaceful rest in the serene embrace of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, borne gently to his final abode by those dearest to him: Knox Callan, Jack Moore, Colten Momon, Bruce Price, Charlie Blair, Shay Momon, and Chip Smith. Honorary pallbearer Hugh Early
