Brenda Joyce Morgan Boord
November 23, 1946 – January 14, 2025
Gone Fishin’, Forever More
Brenda Joyce Morgan Boord, 78, of Summerville, Georgia, hung up her earthly hat and cast her line into the great beyond on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Born on a crisp autumn day, November 23, 1946, in Rome, Georgia.
Brenda had a knack for living life with flair and leaving a trail of laughter wherever she went.
She was preceded in her heavenly journey by her beloved dance partner and husband, Vernon “Sunny” Alexander Boord. Together, they were the Fred and Ginger of Rome dance floors. Also waiting to greet her were her dear grandson, Benjamin; her grandmother, Lola Mae Tuggle; her brother Kurt Morgan and his wife Linda; her sister Sandra; along with a heavenly host of kinfolk.
Left to carry on her legacy of fun and grit are her three daughters, Terrie Walls (Michael), Lisa McKinney, and Melinda Lively (Ladon). Brenda’s heart spilled over with pride for her grandchildren: Joshua, Jennifer, Casie, Jamie, Harold, Heather, Stacy, Marisa, Tyler, and Roger. She also leaves behind her great-grandchild Sam and her loving brother, Arthur Morgan (Bunkie), along with her Aunt Dot.
Brenda wore many hats in life, from a dedicated worker at Mohawk Industries and Lowe’s Distribution Center to an experienced fish wrangler with her rod in hand. She had a passion for fishing; whether digging for worms in the red Georgia clay or chasing the ocean’s bounty on deep-sea adventures. When she wasn’t casting a line, she was cutting rocks, quite literally, and finding beauty in the rough.
And oh, how she loved to dance! Brenda and Sunny could cut a rug like nobody’s business, turning heads and stealing hearts as they twirled through their Saturday nights. She was a mama who could be fierce and funny all in one breath, a grandmother who could spoil and scold with equal skill, and a woman who lit up the room with her charm and sass.
A celebration of Brenda’s full and fabulous life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center. Greg Cater, a dear family friend, will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather for the visitation at 12:30 PM, with the service to follow at 2:00 PM.
In true southern style, we’ll gather to share stories, shed a few tears, and maybe even stomp our feet in Brenda’s honor. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
Heaven just got a little more fun. Rest easy, Brenda. May the fish bite every time, and the music never stop.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
