Brendon David Arnold took his final breath this side of Heaven on Tuesday, October 29th, at the age of 41. Brendon died after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his immediate family, at his parents’ home, in Georgia.
Brendon was born on December 27th, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana, delivered by his grandfather, Robert D. Arnold, MD. Brendon became the big brother to three sisters, Brittany, Brianna, and Danielle, and the four of them spent much of their childhood exploring the outdoors together. Brendon loved to try new things whether by himself or as part of a team. He sang in choirs, learned karate, joined the community swim team, played baseball, set high school cross country records, and found a love of snowboarding.
He was frequently involved in writing and acting in skits and plays whether through church, school, or as a junior 4-H group leader. He attended Covenant Christian High School, Covenant Bible College, Lee University, and completed his Political Science degree at Anderson University. Brendon loved learning and expanding his horizons through education, but the military soon became his second family to which he was always loyal.
Brendon enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in 2009 as an Intelligence Specialist. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and to Central America in 2016. He loved the training he received through the National Guard and worked for several military contractors in both Washington D.C., and Tampa.
In 2019 he took a job as an Intelligence Planner for the Defense Intelligence Agency in Stuttgart, Germany and most recently relocated to Colorado Springs, to work at the Joint Intelligence Operations Center at NORAD & amp; USNORTHCOM. He was described as a “brilliant intelligence analyst” and someone who could lighten the mood even in the most serious circumstance. In addition to working for the DIA he was also a member of 6th Space Company, 2nd Space Battalion reserve unit in Fort Carson, CO; Brendon was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant due to impact on 6th Space Company and the United States Army.
There were many parts of his work that he couldn’t discuss with his family due to their classified nature. That secrecy didn’t stop his nieces and nephews from speculating wildly about what he actually did with his time, eventually landing on the idea that Uncle Brendon was most certainly a spy. Brendon always laughed at that, and never corrected them.
Brendon was a faithful Christian and would tell you God was the first priority in his life. He loved to travel, by himself and with friends, always exploring new places and he never said no to a new adventure. He loved comic books and all things superheroes, having an innate sense of justice and morality from a very young age. And even though Brendon often lived far from his family, there was nothing he loved more than coming back for visits on holidays and beach vacations. He was the “funnest uncle” with a goofy sense of humor, always the center of the chaos when his nieces and nephews were present. His laugh was loud, his hugs were long, and his heart was loyal to all those he loved.
Brendon leaves behind his grandmother, Neva Arnold, his parents, Greg and Denny Arnold, his sisters, Brittany Fike, Brianna Hubbard, and Danielle Boultinghouse, his brothers in law, Brian Fike, Michael Hubbard, and Grant Boultinghouse, along with his nieces and nephews, Zac Fike, London Hubbard, Tori Hubbard, Brooklyn Fike, Halyn Fike, Lennox Boultinghouse, Oscar Boultinghouse, and Ivar Boultinghouse.
Brendon was a wonderful man, full of joy, and a friend to all. He was steady, and he was unwavering in his loyalty to his faith, his family, and his country. He was a man of integrity and principles; we will spend the rest of our lives missing him and striving to honor his memory. As his family we thank Jesus now and always for the hope of Heaven, because we know we will see him again.
Brendon was buried November 15th, in a private family ceremony at the National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
