Brian Ayers Worley
October 18, 1973 – December 22, 2024
Brian Ayers Worley, a man whose life was steeped in melody and song, departed this earthly stage on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 51. Born on a crisp autumn day, October 18, 1973, in Alexandria, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of Donald Alton Worley and Charlotte Sue Ayers Karl. His story began as a symphony of love and promise, composed within the embrace of his family and the shadow of Louisiana's historic skies.
Brian's upbringing was one of both literal and figurative harmony. He shared the bonds of family with his parents, his stepmother, Elizabeth Worley, and his devoted sisters; Donna Woodham (Mike), Amy Roberson (James), and Liz Davis (Mark). Brian thoroughly enjoyed the role of uncle to his nieces and nephews, Heather Knight (Josh), Brooke Harrell (Brian), Faith Knight, Paige Dansby, Dylan Dansby, Elena, and Colby Carson. He was even more thrilled to become a great-uncle to his great-niece Hunter and his great-nephew, Braddock. As he had been on the recipient end of their wisdom and kindness, Brian revered the relationship he had with his own aunts and uncles: William Worley (Sally), Robert Worley (Debbie), Faye Gay (Bill) and Anita Yong. Though deeply loved, he now joins those who preceded him into eternity: his grandparents, Roscoe and Mary Worley, and Sherman and Lucille Ayers, as well as his aunts and uncles, Max Ayers, Danny Ayers, Margaret Wallace, and Barbara Gray. Their voices, like faint echoes, remind us that love outlasts the silence of passing.
From an early age, Brian was more than a musician; he was a virtuoso of life’s most profound chords. At the tender age of seven, he discovered his passion for music, singing, and strumming his guitar within the sanctuary of his church. By fourteen, his youthful genius had birthed three albums, a feat that hinted at the boundless potential lying within him. Music wasn’t merely his vocation; it was his language. Proficient in a myriad of instruments, Brian’s hands seemed blessed with divine precision, and his voice carried the promise of a hundred enlightening dreams.
Brian was a one-man orchestra, playing every note, singing every harmony, and penning every lyric for his albums. His creativity transcended borders, and his compositions found homes in the hearts of listeners across continents. A graduate of Berry College and Middle Tennessee State University, he earned degrees in music and science, a pairing that reflected his unique blend of technical brilliance and artistic depth.
Beyond his music, Brian’s life was graced by simpler joys. He was the devoted caretaker of his beloved pet cat, Finn, whose quiet companionship was a source of comfort. In his presence, there was a gentleness, a quiet luminosity, as though he carried within him the glow of his own melodies.
A celebration of Brian's life will begin with a visitation on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. The funeral service will follow on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the same chapel. He will find his final resting place in the serene grounds of Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 5605 Alabama Highway NW, Rome, Georgia 30165.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Knight, Larry Worley, Mike Woodham, and Joe Lotto, with Matthew Davis, Robert Worley, and William Worley as honorary pallbearers. These men, emblematic of strength and love, will carry Brian to his eternal home.
As the final notes of his earthly song fade, Brian’s legacy remains a testament to a life lived with passion, creativity, and grace. May his melodies linger in our hearts, a gentle reminder that even in passing, his music plays on.
Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
