In Loving Memory of Carol Ann Hickman Young
March 25, 1955 - February 21, 2026
Carol Ann Hickman Young, of Lindale, Georgia, took her final bow on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the age of seventy. Born in Darby, Pennsylvania, on March 25, 1955, to the late Johnny and Joan Hickman, Carol entered this world with a spark, and she never once dimmed it.
Carol has now reunited with quite the heavenly welcome committee: her beloved husband, David Young; her sons, Phillip Clark and William Clark, Jr.; her daughters, Carol Elizabeth Clarke and Dawn Marie Clark; her grandchild, Damien Austin; her brother, Michael Hickman; and her best friend, Donna Justice. One can only imagine the laughter already echoing up there.
Here on earth, she leaves behind a lively and loving crew: her sons, Keith Adriance, Lance Adriance, and Scott Adriance; her daughter, Jennifer Boatner Pickett; her grandchildren, Kaylie Brobst and Trinity Brobst ,Jacob Pickett, Kaitlyn Pickett, and Hannah Pickett; her great-grandchildren, Oaklyn Gettrost and Lakelyn Gettrost; her brothers, Johnny Hickman, Jr. and Kelly Hickman; her sister, Doreen Ann Hickman D'Amato; her great-nieces, Amy White and Theresa Rich; her god-daughter, Savannah LeCroy; and her dear friends, Faye and Jerry Louallen, just to name the lucky ones who got to love her.
Now, if you knew Carol, you knew one thing for certain: nothing, and I mean nothing happened before her morning coffee. That cup wasn’t optional; it was sacred. Once caffeinated, she was ready to take on the world, or at least tell it exactly how it ought to be run.
Carol had a gift for honesty. She didn’t sugarcoat, she didn’t sidestep, and she certainly didn’t hold back. And somehow, that made people love her even more. When Carol spoke, you listened, partly because she was right, and partly because you knew she’d say it again a little louder if needed.
She was a proud plant lover, a devoted nature watcher, and a certified hummingbird enthusiast. If there were flowers blooming and tiny wings fluttering nearby, Carol was not far behind, probably smiling and humming right along with them.
And speaking of humming, shall we say singing, Carol was a full-fledged karaoke queen. Give her a microphone, a favorite song, and a room full of people she loved, and she would light it up. She didn’t just sing, she performed. Add a little dancing into the mix, and you had yourself a Carol-style celebration.
However, above all else, Carol’s heart belonged to her grandchildren. They were her pride, her joy, and the true center of her world. She showed up for them, cheered them on, and built her days around their happiness. If love could be measured in time and attention, those children were rich beyond words.
Carol lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left behind a trail of laughter, truth, music, and memories that will not soon fade.
