With hearts both heavy and grateful, the family of Cathy Ann Upton Horton, aged 69, of Rome, Georgia, announces her passing on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born on August 2, 1955, to the late Billy Upton and Francis Louise Robinson, Cathy’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and joy.

Cathy’s journey was marked by the bittersweet loss of her beloved daughters, Christina Lynn Fugate and Michelle Leigh Cooper, as well as her cherished brother, Terry Robinson. Yet, even amid such heartache, she found strength to be a beacon of love for her family.

She is survived by her son, Brian Keith Horton, Jr., and her daughter, Melissa Huie, who carry forward her legacy of warmth and humor. Cathy’s grandchildren, Austin Henderson, Justin Huie, Tiffany Huie, Brian Pickard, Dustin Fugate, Kely Fugate, and Payton Horton, along with her great-grandchildren, Liam Henderson, Kayden Henderson, and Millie Henderson, were the light of her life. She leaves behind her siblings, Danny Robinson, Eddie Robinson, David Robinson, and Hazel Robinson, with whom she shared deep bonds of kinship and shared memories of days gone by.

Cathy was a woman who wore many titles: mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. But to those who knew her, she was simply the heart of the family. Her love for Classic Rock served as the soundtrack to countless joyful moments, whether she was reminiscing about the past or laughing with her great-grandchildren. Cathy’s laughter was a melody in its own right, a song of delight and mischief that lifted the spirits of those around her. She had a unique gift for creating happiness, often at her own expense, to ensure those she loved found joy.

Cathy’s memory will linger as a cherished refrain, woven into the lives of those who loved her, much like the timeless songs she adored. Let her legacy remind us that laughter and love are the true treasures of the soul.
