In Loving Memory of Charles Howard Cooper
August 4, 1933 ~ December 7, 2023
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Charles Howard Cooper, aged 90, of Rome, Georgia, on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Born to William Howard Cooper and Lossie Lee Striplin Cooper on August 4, 1933, in the same town, Charles's life was a testament to devotion, service, and family values.
Charles was the beloved husband of the late Helen Marie Langham Cooper, with whom he shared sixty-three years of marital harmony. Their life together was a beautiful journey of love and mutual respect, ending with Helen’s passing in 2021. In addition to his parents and his cherished wife, he was predeceased by his daughters, Ann Marie King, and Ellen Lee Cooper; his brothers, Gerald Cooper and Elbert Cooper; and his sisters, Dorthy McCulloch and Jane Fincher.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his son, Patrick Cooper; his daughter, Susan Cooper Comer; and his treasured grandchildren, Jake Cooper, Spencer Cooper, Brooke Cooper, Morgan Cooper, Ashley Lytle, Josh Comer, Sarah Blackmon, Bud King, Leanna Ortiz, Jordon King, Ellie Beard, and Joe King. Charles's role as a father and grandfather was imbued with affection and pride, witnessing the growth and successes of his family.
Charles served his country with honor in the military for three years, a period that shaped his character and work ethic. He later joined Bellsouth as a cable technician, where he demonstrated diligence and expertise. In retirement, Charles found joy in creating memorable moments with his family, cherishing every opportunity to be with his loved ones.
Charles’ family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a graveside service with entombment on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home located at 2750 Shorter Ave NW. Rome, GA 30165.
