Charles Tuggle Obituary

Charles Larry Tuggle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and hometown Roman, passed away on June 26, 2023, at the age of 76. Charles was born on November 14, 1946, to Charles Henry Tuggle and Jesse Beatrice Tuggle, both of whom he now joins in eternal slumber.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ann Tuggle, their son Christopher Larry Tuggle, and two beloved grandchildren, Christopher Brayden Tuggle and Kiersten Annabrooke Tuggle. Bernice Shelley, his devoted sister, also survives him. Charles had a special relationship with Lucky, his most cherished animal companion, who provided him with unwavering companionship over the years.

Charles, who was raised in the Baptist faith, held a profound and enduring faith in God. His faith flourished at Hopewell Baptist Church, where he was an active member, and he found solace and inspiration in the congregation.

Charles developed an unwavering passion for music at a very young age. The steel guitar, also known as a slider, was his preferred instrument and became an extension of his personality. His undeniable musical aptitude led him to become a performer and entertainer for the rest of his life. Charles garnered recognition and acclaim in Nashville, Tennessee, where he became a well-known figure in the music industry. He was a devoted member of the sensational country gospel group The Cherokee Mountain Boys. They touched the souls of countless listeners with their harmonious melodies, spreading messages of faith, hope, and love.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Charles dedicated himself to a rewarding career. For over three decades, he worked diligently for the Sara Lee Baking Company, starting in 1977 until his well-deserved retirement in 2011. His commitment and hard work were evident in all he did, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.

Charles was a devoted member of Oostanaula Lodge #113 in Rome, Georgia, where he served as a mason for an impressive 60 years. He cherished the brotherhood and enduring alliances he forged within the lodge and held the principles of Freemasonry dear.

Those who knew Charles Larry Tuggle will remember his infectious humor, warm smile, and kind nature. All who had the good fortune to cross his path will continue to be inspired and comforted by his legacy of love, music, and unwavering faith.

As we grieve the loss of him today, let us also celebrate Charles Larry Tuggle's remarkable life and cherish the fond recollections we shared. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and his music live on eternally in our hearts.
