Christa Holly (Cooper) Prater

Christa Holly Cooper Prater, aged 46, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. Born to Herman Joe Cooper, Sr. and Ruth Ernestine Bartlett Cooper on December 23, 1976, in Tucker, Georgia, Christa was a beacon of love and joy throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ruth Cooper, Christa’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband, Scott Prater, and her adored children, Stephen and his wife Ariel, AJ and his wife Olivia, Clay and his wife Avery; Jeremie and his wife Shannon; Charla and her husband Lamar; Cecil, Courtney and Breanna. Her legacy continues through her precious 18 grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. Christa’s brothers, Herman, Scott, and Tommy, and her sisters, Teresea, Delana, and Arlene, also survive her and will hold her memory dear.

Christa was the embodiment of a loving wife, mother, and nanny. Her smile was infectious, and her spirit was unyieldingly vibrant. She had a profound love for animals, a testament to her enormous heart. Christa extended her kindness and compassion to everyone she met, always ready to lend a helping hand.

As a homemaker, Christa took immense pride in creating a nurturing and warm environment for her family. Her joy in homemaking shone through in her cooking, decorating, and the care she took in maintaining her home. She was deeply involved in the upbringing and education of her children, finding unparalleled fulfillment in being an active part of their growth and development.

Christa’s grandchildren were the beneficiaries of her unwavering love and presence, reaping the rewards of having a nanny who was ever-present and overflowing with affection.

The family Invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Christa’s life. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the funeral service following on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Both the visitation and the funeral will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, located at 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.

Christa’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
