Cody Lee Dake, age 43, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026. Though his departure leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory will forever remain a source of comfort, laughter, and strength.
Born on October 28, 1982, Cody was known for his outgoing personality, quick wit, and generous heart. Growing up, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, and soccer, and his fun-loving nature earned him the reputation of being the “class clown” among his friends and classmates. He graduated from Coosa High School and carried that same spirit of humor and camaraderie throughout his life.
A devoted Tennessee Volunteers fan, Cody was proud to wear orange and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Whether surrounded by family, friends, or coworkers, he had a unique ability to bring people together and make them feel welcome.
Cody dedicated much of his life to serving his community through his work. During his years with the City of Rome, he became affectionately known by the nickname “Graves,” a name many continued to call him throughout his life. He later served as a Correctional Officer at Hayes State Prison and Floyd County Correctional Facility, where he demonstrated dedication, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility. Since 2020, Cody had been a valued member of the Lindsey Monument family, where he continued to build meaningful relationships and earn the respect of those around him.
More than anything, Cody will be remembered for the goodness he carried in his heart. He was the kind of person who would give freely of himself, lend a helping hand without being asked, and stand firmly beside those he loved. His loyalty was unwavering, his kindness genuine, and his love for family and friends undeniable. He was a fighter in every sense of the word—determined, steadfast, and deeply devoted to the people and passions that mattered most to him.
Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Syble Bentley; Charlene Young; aunts Sheila Conaway and Jackie Rheinheimer.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Connie Dake; his sister, Patches Dake; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Though his time here has ended, the impact Cody made on the lives of others will endure. His laughter, his compassion, and his steadfast spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Forever remembered. Forever loved. Forever missed.
