Cynthia Bishop Obituary

Cynthia Kay Gilmore Bishop
September 2, 1965 - February 13, 2025

The light of Cynthia Kay Gilmore Bishop is now gathered to eternity, her earthly sojourn concluded on the 13th day of February in the year of our Lord 2025. Born upon the second day of September, in the year 1965, she was cradled in the love of her devoted parents, James Huie Gilmore and Martha Juanita Paynter Gilmore, in the verdant land of Rome, Georgia, where the Coosa winds whisper through time.

From childhood’s dawn, Cynthia’s spirit shone bright, her footsteps graced the halls of Coosa High School, where beauty and virtue adorned her as Homecoming Queen, and where she was crowned Miss Coosa High School, Class of 1983. In diligence and honor, she labored, her hands turning the wheels of commerce, first as a bearer of parcels for UPS, then guiding many through the portals of homeownership as a Mortgage Loan Officer for Wells Fargo and other banks.

Yet Cynthia’s heart was drawn to artistry, where her soul found its truest expression. With a discerning eye and a craftsman’s touch, she ventured forth into the world of antiques and fine furniture, curating treasures and restoring beauty where time had worn its mark. At her beloved River City booth, she wove the past into the present, each piece she touched a testament to her creative soul.

In love, she was steadfast, a devoted companion to her husband, Windle Mark Bishop, with whom she shared twenty-nine years of joy, trials, and devotion. As a mother, she was tender yet strong, imparting wisdom and boundless love to her cherished children, Chrysan Griffin and Dax Bishop. As a grandmother, she was a wellspring of delight and affection to Carsyn and Tristan, their laughter a melody she held dear.

Her presence was a gift, her heart a sanctuary, and her spirit one of unyielding grace. Each dawn she greeted with vigor, each moment she embraced with joy. In art, in labor, and in love she flourished.

Now, as we bid farewell, she is not lost, but risen beyond our sight, where time yields to eternity and sorrow finds no home. She is welcomed into the arms of celestial peace, even as she remains in the hearts of those she cherished. Left to treasure her memory are her beloved parents, James Huie and Martha Juanita Gilmore, her husband Mark, her children Chrysan and Dax, her grandchildren Carsyn and Tristan, and her brother Dwayne Gilmore.

To honor the beauty of her life, we will gather in celebration on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home from 1:00PM-4:00PM.

Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
