With heavy hearts, we remember the life of Mr. Daniel Segura-Cruz, affectionately known to his family as Danny, who left us far too soon on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the tender age of 17. Born on December 9, 2006, in Rome, Georgia, Daniel was the beloved son of Daniel and Marina Segura, and his presence brought immense joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Daniel was a shining light in the lives of his family and friends, and his warmth and kindness touched the hearts of many. He is survived by his devoted parents, Daniel Segura and Marina Segura; his brothers, Jaime Segura Cruz, Hugo Segura Cruz, and Oscar Segura Cruz; and his sisters, Vanessa Segura Cruz and Lilliana Segura Cruz. His loving spirit also lives on in his cousin Ricky Peinado, niece, Luna Segura, and his nephew, Ivan Segura. Daniel’s extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

In the heavenly realm, Daniel is reunited with his grandmothers, Carmen Ornelas and Josefina Carmona Villagomez, who welcome him with open arms. Though his time on Earth was brief, Daniel impact was profound, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Daniel was a senior at Rome High School, eagerly anticipating his upcoming graduation in May 2025. He had already set his sights on the future, with plans to continue his education and explore the many possibilities that lay ahead. A passionate soccer player, Daniel’s talent on the field was undeniable. His energy, skill, and love for the game made him a standout player, and his teammates and coaches admired him for his dedication and sportsmanship.

Beyond his athletic abilities, Daniel possessed a unique ability to brighten any room he entered. His smile was infectious, and his laughter could lift the spirits of even the weariest souls. Known for his thoughtfulness and generosity, Daniel was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether to a friend, family member, or even a stranger in need. His love for animals and children was evident, and they, in turn, adored him.

Among those mourning Daniel’s loss is his beloved Izzy Baby, who misses him dearly. Daniel’s bond with Izzy was special, and the family is committed to ensuring that she is well cared for, just as Daniel would have wanted.

Daniel’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. His life, though brief, was full of love, laughter, and promise. The world is a little dimmer without him, but the memories he created will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A Funeral Mass to honor Daniel’s life and the profound impact he had on those around him will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 10:30 AM. A visitation will be held at their residence all day Wednesday, September 4, 2024, commencing at 9:30AM until the evening of September 5, 2024. Father Paul Porter and Deacon Stuart Neslin will officiate, offering words of comfort and hope during this time of sorrow.

Serving as pallbearers will be his brothers, Hugo Segura, Oscar Segura, and Jaime Segura, along with his close friends Cristian Blanco, Yahir Pineda, Ricky Peinado and Andrew Guzman.

Though Daniel’s journey was far too short, his legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed more than words can express.
