Danny Avon Grissom

Mr. Danny Avon Grissom, age 59, the son of the late Avon Earl Grissom and Gertrude Ethel Mae Grissom, left his earthly home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 05, 2023.

Danny was of Christian faith, a prayer warrior, during his illness he fought the good fight till the end. He worked many years in roofing. Danny loved his family with all his heart, he loved entertaining and singing karaoke with his brothers Leon, Tommy, Michael, Jimmy and Jackey. He loved sitting on the phone with his brother Leon for hours even if nothing was said. They all loved having a good old time! He didn’t have any children of his own but loved his nieces and nephews, his niece Jennifer was an angel to him, she loved him and helped take care of him till the end. Danny and his childhood friends Eddie Overby built huts together when they were kids, he also cherished spending time with Jackie Grissom, they were both his lifelong friends. Later in life, he really enjoyed spending time with his dear friend Stephanie Reed. He indulged in home cooked meals; his favorite food was Chicken and Dumplings with a cold sprite. Danny was outdoorsy; he enjoyed fishing and camping but most of all he loved his dog, Daisy. Danny will be greatly missed; he was loved by all his friends and family!

He was preceded in death by his parents Avon Earl Grissom and Gertrude Ethel Mae Grissom, his brother Michael and Jimmy Grissom.

Survivors include his brothers Leon (Jackie) Grissom, Tommy (Gay) Grissom, Jackey (Kim) Grissom and his sister Joanne Powell, his dear nephews Pnut, Noah and Waylon and dear nieces Hannah, Alleigh, Charleigh and Charizma and several nieces and nephews and his dear aunt Hazel Shores.

The family will hold a visitation for friends and family Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5:00PM -7:00PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel and a Funeral Service on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 3:00PM following interment at Leon and Jackie Grissom’s home located at 1169 Bethel Church Rd.

Pallbearers include Chris Fife, Eddie Overby, Jonathan Bannister, Noah Grissom, Brian Quinn, Shawn Elkins, Dominique Porter, Michael Kent and Joseph Hennon.
