In Loving Memory of David Connor Ball

David Connor Ball, age 90, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, David lived a life defined by hard work, service to others, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Born on September 26, 1935, in Cave Spring, Georgia, to Arthur C. Ball and Annie Ruth Pledger Ball, David grew up with strong values that guided him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he had the opportunity to live in five states and three countries, creating a lifetime of experiences and memories.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, David continued to put his talents to work by operating his own mechanical business for more than two decades. He was known for his skill, dedication, and willingness to help others.

David found great happiness outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent in nature. He also enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles, a hobby that reflected both his patience and craftsmanship. Perhaps most of all, he loved working in his yard and tending his garden, finding peace and satisfaction in the beauty of God’s creation. Since 1977, David had been a faithful member of West Rome Baptist Church, where he worshiped and built lasting friendships within the church family.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Ann Martin Ball; his parents, Arthur C. Ball and Annie Ruth Pledger Ball; his brother, James Roger Ball; and his son, Stephen David Ball.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his son, Michael Alan Ball and wife, Nanci Ann Casto Ball; his treasured granddaughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Ball; his brother-in-law, William Martin and wife, LaRae Tate Martin; his niece, Diane Durrett and husband, Brent Durrett; and his nephews, Phillip Ball, Ted Ball, Drew Martin, Trae Martin, and Blake Martin.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, love of family, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His legacy of service, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service celebrating David’s life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Jarrod Roberts officiating.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the many memories he leaves behind and in the lasting impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
