In Loving Memory of David Freemon Brock
May 23, 1961 – December 12, 2025
David Freemon Brock, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the age of sixty-four. He was born in Rome on May 23, 1961, to the late James and Ida Brock, and from that beginning he carried with him a steady, grounded presence shaped by family, faith, and the honest work of his hands.
David lived a life rooted in loyalty and quiet strength. He was a man who understood the language of engines and open land, who found peace where the air was wide and the water patient. Hunting and fishing were not merely pastimes for him, but ways of listening to the world, of standing still long enough to feel its order and rhythm. The outdoors gave him room to breathe, and he returned from it renewed, carrying calm back into the lives of those who loved him.
As a mechanic for drag racing and for Brock Racing, David worked with precision and pride. He knew how to coax speed and power from metal, how to make broken things whole again. There was dignity in his labor, a quiet satisfaction in seeing something move because his hands had understood it. That same care followed him home, where he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
David was a faithful member of Tabernacle Church, a non-denominational congregation where his belief was lived more than spoken. His faith was steady and sincere, carried in his actions, his patience, and the way he showed up for others without fanfare.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela D. Brock, whose companionship anchored his days; his son, Davy Brock; his grandchildren, Katie Brock and Braden Brock, who brought him unmistakable joy; his sister, Mary Diane Dowdy; his nieces, Stacey Dowdy and Blair Itson; his nephews, Gary Dowdy and Isreal Dowdy; and other great nieces and nephews who will remember him as a constant presence, dependable and kind. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his in-laws, Joseph Wayne and Cannon Mary Frances; his brother, James Thomas “Tommy” Brock, Jr.; and his great-niece, Shelby D. Dowdy, whose memory he carried tenderly.
David Freeman Brock leaves behind more than the sum of his years. He leaves a legacy of steadiness, of work done well, of faith practiced quietly, and of love given without condition. His life remains present in the hum of engines, the stillness of early mornings outdoors, and in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to walk alongside him.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is deeply honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
