In Loving Memory of David Lee Porter
September 26, 1944 – January 16,2026
David Lee Porter, a lifelong resident of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on September 26, 1944, David lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
David proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, an experience that shaped his deep sense of duty and discipline. After returning home, he devoted his working years to farming and trucking, careers that reflected his strong work ethic and love for the land.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Wilma Porter, to whom he shared a lifetime of love with. David was a man who cherished his family deeply and found joy in being surrounded by those he loved.
David is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Porter, his sisters and many cherished nieces and nephews. Including, Brandi Shelton, Michael Lemming, Breanna Kelley, Cedron Porter, and Joseph Kelley. Others who held a special place in his heart. He is survived by a sister; Debra Watson, and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Clara Porter; his brother, John William Porter; two sister's Jeanette Deaton, and Doris Lemming. His niece Brenda Brown.
A visitation will be held Thursday January 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be rendered by Post 5 in recognition of David’s honorable service. The service will be officiated by Rev. Cary Lindsey, with speakers Brandi Shelton and Breanna Kelley. David will be laid to rest at Floyd Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Lemming, Jon Sanford, George Price, Daniel Shelton, Scott Stewart, and Seth Porter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the great Nephews, Chayton Tate, Candon Shelton, Alex Murphy and Elijah Reese.
