August 31, 1945 – June 11, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Thomas Tolbert, aged 78, of Rome, Georgia. Born on August 31, 1945, to the late Walter and Romie Tolbert, David lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for his craft.
David is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Sharon Tolbert, who stood by his side through all of life’s ups and downs. He leaves behind his cherished son, David Michael Tolbert, and his beloved grandchildren, Chase Michael Tolbert and Faith Michael Tolbert, who were his pride and joy. David’s family was his greatest treasure, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jereld Tolbert and Doug Tolbert, with whom he shared a bond that remained strong throughout their lives.
A proud veteran, David served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army Reserve in the 82nd Airborne Division, beginning his service in 1965. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and camaraderie, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
David had a lifelong passion for motocross, a sport that brought him great joy. When his son, David Michael, turned seven years old, David eagerly introduced him to the world of motocross. Together, they shared countless adventures, attending races and bonding over their shared enthusiasm. This tradition continued for many years, creating memories that David Michael will cherish forever.
David’s professional life was equally fulfilling. As a skilled builder, he dedicated his career to constructing homes and apartment complexes, leaving a lasting mark on the communities he served. Beyond his professional and personal achievements, David was known for his kind heart, unwavering work ethic, and the genuine care he showed to those around him. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and his warm smile and friendly demeanor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
