Debra Johnson Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Debra Diane Johnson

January 18, 1955 - January 1, 2026

Debra Diane Johnson, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of seventy. She was born on January 18, 1955, in Rome, Georgia, to Alma Williams, and from the very beginning, she carried within her a spark that refused to be dimmed.

Debra was a woman of steady hands and an untamed heart. She built her career at Mohawk Industries, working in textiles, where the rhythmic hum of looms and the weaving of threads mirrored the quiet strength of her own life. She was a hard worker, dependable and resolute, giving her time and effort with the same uncomplaining generosity she offered in every other corner of her world.

Yet it was not only diligence that defined her. Debra loved fiercely and without condition. She loved her family with a devotion that was both steadfast and tender, holding them close in ways that did not always require words. Her son, Travis Jason Wimpey, was the center of her pride and affection, a living testament to the depth of her heart. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Farmer Dale Farmer, and her sister, Patsy Ford.

She now rejoins in eternity those who went before her: her mothers, Alma Williams, her brother, Dwayne Farmer, and her sisters, Darlene Farmer and Sherry Farmer. Though their earthly circle has shifted, one can almost imagine the reunion bright and laughter-filled, as though time itself bent gently to welcome her home.

To know Debra was to understand that freedom is not rebellion for its own sake but a way of inhabiting the world with authenticity. She was uniquely free spirited, and unapologetically herself. She was guided more by instinct and heart than by convention. She did not mold herself to fit the expectations of others; instead, she moved through life like a breeze through open windows, refreshing, surprising, and sometimes delightfully unpredictable. There was a lightness to her spirit, a refusal to be overly burdened by what could not be changed. She understood, perhaps better than most, that life is meant to be lived with color.

Her presence leaves behind a quiet space that cannot be filled, yet her memory lingers like perfume in a room long after the door has closed; gentle, persistent, and unmistakably her own.

Debra moved through this world like wildflowers along a country road. She was unfenced, sunward leaning, impossible to overlook.
