In Loving Memory of
Dollie Cleo Ashley Sisson
December 8, 1941 – April 27, 2026
Dollie Cleo Ashley Sisson has passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Lindale, Georgia, at the age of eighty-four.
Cleo was born on December 8, 1941, in Acworth, Georgia, to James Laroul Ashley and Odessa Lou Webster Moss, who have now welcomed her into that far country where time no longer presses against the heart. There, too, waits her husband, David Sisson, the one she chose on December 22, 1962, and the one she never stopped choosing through fifty-two years of shared life. If love leaves an imprint on eternity, then theirs is a path worn deep and certain. They have found one another once again.
Here, in this world, Cleo leaves behind the echo of her days in the lives of her son, Lee's Sisson (Lisa), and her daughter, Linda Brock (Steve). Her grandchildren: Keelan, Jordan, Leah, and Byron, and her thirteen great-grandchildren carry forward her name in ways both spoken and unspoken. Her brother, Oliver Ashley, and her sister, Patricia Dollar, remain among us, holding memories that stretch back to days when the world was still new and full of promise.
Cleo has gone ahead to join those who left before her: her grandson, Cody Sisson; her brother, Jimmy Ashley; and her sisters, Joan Jones and Hazel Newberry. They are no longer separated by distance or time.
Cleo finished her schooling at Pepperrell High School on June 6, 1961, and soon after stepped into a life that would be measured not by titles, but by constancy. She worked for many years at Schuner Manufacturing, steady and faithful, until she laid down that labor and retired in 2018. Then began her true work, the one she carried without ever desiring rest, was loving her family.
She loved them in ways that were simple and enduring. In the Smoky Mountains, where the air feels older than memory, she gathered them close. On her back porch, with a Coca-Cola in hand, she watched the world settle into evening. In kitchens filled with warmth and quiet conversation, she made meals that tasted of home. With her sisters, she shared laughter that did not ask permission to linger.
To say she loved her family is to say too little. It was the center of her days, the measure of her time, the thing she returned to again and again, as one returns to a place that knows their name.
Now, those who remain may find her in small things, like the hush before nightfall, the familiar weight of memory, the sense that someone is still there, just beyond sight.
Services to honor her life will be held at Reverence Church. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, and continue through the night until the funeral service at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Those who will carry her one last time are Byron Sisson, Jordan Brock, Mason Bishop, CJ Hooper, Greg Dollar, Brandon Porter, Cash Walsh, Keelan Brock, Chip Ashley, and Christian Hooper.
When all is said and done, when the last words have been spoken and the chairs sit empty, there will remain something of her in the still quiet silence. Steady, and unforgotten, like a voice carried on the wind, calling gently back to those who still listen.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
