Mr. Donald Ray Barrett, a devoted hard worker, loving father, doting grandfather, beloved
brother, and avid pet lover, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. He is survived
by his son Dewayne Matney, his daughter Norma Roberson; his sister Elaine King; and ten
grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. His
loss leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
Born on March 21, 1956, to the late Gilbert R and Bella Barret, Donald exemplified the values of
dedication and hard work throughout his life. He approached every task with unwavering
commitment and a strong work ethic. His determination and perseverance were a testament to
his character, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and loved ones alike.
Donald’s true passion in life was his family. As a father, he poured his heart and soul into raising
his children, instilling in them the values of love, integrity, and resilience. He always prioritized
spending quality time with them, whether it was cheering from the sidelines at their sports
games, attending school events, or simply enjoying cherished family moments.
The joy of Donald’s life blossomed with the arrival of his grandchildren. Their laughter and
smiles brought immeasurable happiness to his heart. He cherished every moment spent with
them, creating lifelong memories that will forever be treasured.


Family bonds were of paramount importance to Donald. He shared a special connection with his
sister and brother, serving as a pillar of support and offering unconditional love. Their bond was
