Doris Anita Andrews Cook

Doris Anita Andrews Cook age 97, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Mrs. Cook was born in Detroit, MI on June 16, 1927,
She was the beloved daughter of the late William Lester Andrews and the late Inez Stillwell Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jamie W. Cook, Sr. (Bill), her son, Stephen Andrews Cook, her sister, Vivian Van Landingham, and her daughter-in-law, Pam Cook.
Mrs. Cook moved to Rome at the early age of six. She was a 1944 graduate of Rome Girls, High School and a graduate of Carroll Lynn Business College. After graduation, she was employed as the office manager for Dr. Robert Norton and Dr. Hobart Hortman for 14 years. Following the births of her children, she became at stay-at-home mom, enjoying every minute of caring for her family. Mrs. Cook married the love of her life, Bill Cook on June 10, 1951. Together they raised three beautiful children.
Mrs. Cook and her husband were Charter members of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. She served faithfully on many committees throughout the years. She taught Sunday School in the Children's Department and, was very involved in the Women's Mission Groups.
She and her husband enjoyed singing in the Senior Adult Choir, attending RAY Club meetings as well as traveling with the seniors of the church in their later years. Doris was a past member of the Lakeside Homemakers Club and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends as well as entertaining in her home. She loved sewing and making crafts. She also enjoyed many camping trips with her family and Church families.
Mrs. Cook will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was affectionately called “Memaw” by all her precious "Grands." She loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian who loved all her family and Friends.
She is survived by a son, Jamie W. Cook, Jr., of Warner Robins, GA a daughter, Susan Cook Fox (Michael) of Rome, and grandchildren, Jennifer Holloway, Allison Fox, Adam Cook (Nancy) and Charlie Cook (Stella) and great grandchildren, Cody Holloway (Emily Hyche), Abby Grace Holloway and Aspen Holloway. Selah, Asher, Adriel, and Abram Cook, and Caroline Cook. She is also survived by a nephew, David Allred and a Niece, Jeanie Trotochaud (Terry).
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 23, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Jamie W. Cook, Jr. Officiating. The service
will be held at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Intermit will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
