Mrs. Dovie Lee England Crider, 85, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024. Born on July 18, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Lee England and Tressie Bunt England.
Dovie’s life was marked by love and dedication to her family. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Marion S. Crider; her son, Ricky Bryan Crider; and her brother, Macey England.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Daniel Crider, Hank Crider, and Kris Crider; her daughters, Beth Alford and Kathy Stephenson; and her grandchildren, CJ Crider, Brittany Walker, Shayne Crider, Aaron Ownbey, Kaitlin Stephenson, Joseph Jackson, Jennifer Jackson, Eddie Flemings, Josh Crider, Adam Crider, Jason Hall, Brandi Robinson, and Clint Crider. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Trudy Reaves Fuhrhop, who shared many cherished moments with her over the years.
Dovie was a devoted mother and grandmother, always putting her family at the center of her world. She had a special bond with each of her children and grandchildren, imparting wisdom, love, and support. Her home was a haven of warmth, filled with laughter and stories that will be remembered for generations.
A woman of deep faith, Dovie was a proud member of the Southern Baptist faith, and her love for God was evident in the kindness and grace she extended to everyone she met.
In her leisure, Dovie found joy in gardening and sewing, two hobbies that reflected her nurturing and creative spirit. She found peace and fulfillment in tending to her garden, where she could immerse herself in nature, watching her flowers and plants flourish under her care. Her sewing was not just a pastime but a way to express her love and care, creating beautiful garments and quilts that carried her warmth to family and friends. Many found solace in these activities, drawn to the quiet meditation they offered and the tangible beauty they produced.
Dovie dedicated many years of her professional life to the pharmaceutical industry, retiring from a fulfilling career at K-Mart pharmacy in Rome, Georgia. Her dedication to her work was evident in the care and attention she provided to her customers, always ensuring their needs were met with a friendly smile and expert advice.
A service to honor Dovie’s life of love and dedication to her family and friends will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. The visitation will commence at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by her son, Kris Crider. Dovie will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, escorted by her grandsons, Shayne Crider, Eddie Flemings, Joseph Jackson, Clint Crider, Jason Hall, and Aaron Ownbey.
