In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Ann Wood Langston
September 24, 1964 – May 1, 2025
Thursday afternoon, on the first day of May 1, 2025, Elizabeth Ann Wood Langston, known as “Ann” to those who loved her most, departed this earthly realm at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, following medical complications. She was sixty years old.
Ann was born on September 24, 1964, in Centre, Alabama, the cherished daughter of Quinn Edsel Wood and Patricia Ann Wood of Cedar Bluff. From her earliest days, the sweetness of her spirit and the clarity of her compassion marked her as one beloved by Heaven and Earth.
She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Patricia Thomas (Justin) and Danielle Cyr (Dakota Boggs), nurturing them with fierce tenderness and guiding them with gentle wisdom. Her heart found its mirror in the love she shared with her soulmate, Clyde Holt III, a bond deep and abiding, woven in laughter, loyalty, light, and love.
To her grandchildren, precious Iris, Lily, and Zed, she was simply “Grams,” a title she wore with joy and reverence. In their eyes, she found wonder anew; in their giggles, she heard echoes of eternity.
Ann possessed a heart as generous as the spring, always blooming with welcome. Her home was a haven, a place where weary souls found rest, warmth, and kinship. She clothed the cold, fed the hungry, and opened her arms wide to those the world had overlooked. Her love was not bound by blood, yet was boundless, reaching all in need.
Her joys were many and simple: the tender tending of gardens, the thrill of new travel adventures, the alchemy of cooking meals that gathered loved ones close. She was a gifted hostess, a social butterfly whose table was never too full, whose heart was never too tired. She found beauty in every moment, even in the intricate coloring of patterned pages, and could make art out of the everyday. Whether she was playing game of cards, a sharing a laugh, or having a quiet evening crafting, all were blessedly divine because Ann was there.
Through every trial, she stood strong, like a pillar carved by the hand of God Himself. Even in the valley of shadow, she bore her burdens with grace, rarely without a smile, always radiant with hope.
Most of all, Ann walked by faith. Her love for the Lord was unwavering, her belief a steady light that never dimmed. In her life, one could see the fruit of the Spirit in real life; kindness, patience, selflessness, and joy.
We who remain will mourn her absence with aching hearts, yet we rejoice that her soul has returned to its Maker, clothed in glory. Our love for her endures, fierce and full, and we shall miss her in equal measure.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the sacred duty of her final arrangements.
