In Loving Memory of Emily Elisabeth Riggins Wright Itson
December 21, 1979 – January 1, 2026
Emily Elisabeth Riggins Wright Itson, age 46, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. Born on December 21, 1979, Emily lived a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family and faith.
Emily was a woman of gentle spirit and deep heart. She was a devoted member of Coosa Valley Praise and Worship Center, where her faith guided her life and relationships. Emily found joy in painting, being near the water, and spending time at the beach—places that reflected her calm and thoughtful nature. Music brought her comfort, but nothing brought her greater happiness than her children and grandchild, who were the center of her world.
She is lovingly survived by her sons, Jesse Riggins-Burkhalter and Matthew Riggins-Burkhalter, and her daughter, Elisabeth Jayla Wright. She was a proud grandmother to Kenzlee Burkhalter, whose presence filled her heart with immeasurable joy. Emily is also survived by her mother, Emily Bernice Shivers; her brother, Lee Riggins; her sister, Cheryl Johnston; and her cherished nieces, Chailyn Johnston and Cheyenne Vicente.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Ray Riggins.
Emily will be remembered for her loving heart, quiet strength, and the way she made those around her feel deeply cared for. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
A visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., both in the chapel. Pastor Steve Kelley will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Lindale Cemetery.
Emily’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family—and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
