In Loving Memory of
Evelyn Marie Sanford Hodges
June 28, 1939 – May 9, 2026
Evelyn Marie Sanford Hodges, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who cherished her dearly. Born on June 28, 1939, in Shannon, Georgia, Evelyn lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family and community. She was the daughter of the late Earnest Hayden Sanford and Bonnie Fox Sanford.
Evelyn was a longtime member of Hollywood Baptist Church for more than fifty years, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and was known for her gentle spirit and deep love for Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she carried that strength and grace into every season she faced.
She retired after many years of dedicated work with both Kroger and Kellogg’s, where she was respected for her hardworking nature and warm personality. To those who knew her best, Evelyn will be remembered most for the love she poured into her family, the joy she found during the Christmas season, and the kindness she extended to everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband Darrell Hodges, her beloved sister, Margaret Carney; nieces, Regina Sanford, Leigh Ann Sanford, Sharon Shephard, and her nephew, David Hammock; along with several extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Sanford; her sister in law, Annie Lee Sanford, her nephews, Eddie Sanford and Jason Sanford.
A visitation for Evelyn Marie Hodges Sanford will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home from 11:00AM until the funeral service hour at 1:00PM with David Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
