In Loving Memory of
Fay Jackson Baker
March 11, 1935 – January 4, 2025
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 NKJV
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus."
With hearts full of love and bittersweet memories, we announce the passing of Mrs. Fay Jackson Baker, aged 89, who peacefully left this world on January 4, 2025, in Rome, Georgia. Born on a crisp spring day, March 11, 1935, to the late Charnell and Eva Jackson, Fay was a woman whose life wove a tapestry of devotion, artistry, and quiet strength.
Fay’s early years in Rome were filled with the simple joys of family and faith, her childhood shaped by her parents’ steadfast values and the warmth of her close-knit home. She grew up alongside her sister, the late Betty Braden, and her brother, Riley Jackson, who survives her and holds dear the shared laughter and memories of days gone by.
In time, Fay met and married the love of her life, Franklin Baker, a man whose steadfast presence complemented her gentle spirit. Together, they built a home rooted in love, where Fay excelled as a devoted housewife, creating a sanctuary of comfort and care for their family. Her hands were rarely still, whether tending to her home, sewing with an artisan’s precision, or crafting garments that carried her signature touch of grace.
The melodies of Fay’s life were not just figurative; they were literal, too. She and Franklin shared a love for music, a harmony that extended beyond their relationship into their community. Franklin’s guitar strings danced to the rhythm of Faye’s voice, and together they brought joy to countless gatherings. They were regular performers at the Georgia Mountain Music Club, where their heartfelt duets resonated with the spirit of fellowship and tradition.
Fay’s life was a testament to her deep and abiding faith. As a proud member of the Baptist faith, she lived as a reflection of her beliefs, inspiring her children and grandchildren to walk with integrity and trust in the Lord. Her unwavering strength and quiet resolve were cornerstones for her son, Avery Baker, her daughters, Shelia Granger and Pamela Middleton, and her cherished grandchildren, Franklin Robinson, Hannah Middleton and Luke Baker, who carry forward her legacy with love and pride.
While her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, Fay’s family and friends take solace in the hope of reunion promised by her steadfast faith. Her life, though now complete, continues to shine as a beacon of love and dedication.
Services to celebrate Fay’s remarkable life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, located at 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Faye will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, where she will be reunited with her beloved Franklin, surrounded by the beauty of her hometown.
Fay Jackson Baker’s story is one of quiet triumphs and enduring love. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and music that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. Though the strings of her earthly song have been stilled, her melody lingers, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived and a love that transcends time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home, who will ensure that Fay’s memory is honored with the grace and dignity she so richly deserves.
