Frances Campbell Obituary

Frances Marilyn Blanton Campbell, age 76, of Rome, died recently at her home. She was a graduate of Coosa High School (class of 1964) and Shorter College (class of 1968). She earned a master's degree in History from West Georgia College. Marilyn had a consuming interest in the American Civil War and was a student of the southern writers. For many years she was a regular attendee at the Faulkner Conference at the Center for the study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace John Campbell, and by her parents, Mary Louise Aycock Blanton and Charlie L. Blanton. She is survived by her sister, Jane Blanton, of Lincolnton, North Carolina; Daniel Blanton Sharon of Rome.; a Stepson, Robert Campbell of Biloxi, Mississippi; nieces Erin Blanton of Rome and Rachel Grimes (Calvin) of Norcross; nephews Nathan Blanton (Heather) of Rome, Josh Rose (Melody) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Ryan Stroupe (Sara Jane) of Savannah. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Sunday September 25, 2022, at the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Interment will follow in the Beech Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Saturday September 24, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
