In Loving Memory of Franklin Eugene “Blue” Grant
March 1, 1959 – October 4, 2023
Franklin Eugene Grant, 64, known to friends and family as "Blue", passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Born in Floyd County on March 1, 1959, to the late Franklin Daniel Grant and Dorothy Marie Wells Grant, Franklin lived a life full of love, simple joys, and deep familial bonds.
In addition to his parents, Franklin is preceded in heaven by two of his children; son, Michael Glawson Grant, and daughter, Tiffany Hambrick along with brother, Charles Grant. Mourning his loss but celebrating his memory, he leaves behind his daughter, Pamela Simpson; his grandchildren, Nathan Simpson, Isaac Simpson, Kaitlyn Simpson, Marisol Hernandez, and Gabriella Hernandez; his brothers, Virgil and Timmy Grant; and his sister, Cathy Ratliff.
Franklin's heart belonged to his family. He looked forward to any time he got to spend with them. He especially enjoyed hanging out with his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He instilled in them the importance of family. Another source of joy and comfort in his life was his cats, who were more than pets; they were devoted companions.
Blue was an outdoorsman. One of his favorite things was sitting on the river fishing. He just enjoyed life's simpler pleasures, and in his opinion, nothing came close to the goodness of a big ol’ sweet tea and double cheeseburger from McDonald’s.
A visitation celebrating Blue’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at Crossroads Baptist Church, where Pastor Greg Barnett of Global Harvest will lead us in remembering and honoring Franklin's life. His final resting place will be at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. The Pallbearers are Matthew Scott, Danny Tant, Billy Sprayberry, Dennis Tant, Samantha Myers, and Savannah Grant. The honorary pallbearers are JT Hall, Larry Hall, and James, Hall.
Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with Franklin's arrangements, ensuring he is laid to rest with the respect and love he so deserves.
As we reflect upon "Blue's" life, we are reminded to cherish simple joys, embrace family, and find peace in nature's embrace. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the ties that bind us together.
