Freddie Edward Rife, Fred, of Rome, Georgia since 1973, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27th, 2025. Freddie was born on October 2nd, 1948 in Aflex Kentucky to parents Delmar and Shirley Rife. He graduated from Belfry High School in 1966 and was an member of the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves from October 1966-1972. He moved to Rome in 1973 and married his wife Teresa on July 23rd, 1977. Their son David was born on April 25th, 1980.
Fred worked for 50 years with the Georgia Power Company and was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church, serving as deacon, Sunday school teacher, R.A.leader, and member of the church softball team and Carpenters for Christ. Fred was a very active and passionate volunteer in his retirement, serving the community through his work at Habitat for Humanity and Rome Action ministries. Fred was a wonderful husband and father, an avid fisherman for all of his life, and brought joy to all who were lucky enough to know him.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Shirley Rife, and his parents in law, Cabot and Louise Barnett. He is survived by his wife, Teresa of Rome and his son and daughter in law, David and Nicole of Westminster, SC, three sisters, and one brother.
Visitation will be be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Thursday, July 31st at Riverside Baptist Church at 48 Ash Street, Rome, GA 30161 (https://www.google.com/maps/search/48+Ash+Street,+Rome,+GA+30161?entry=gmail&source=g). The funeral service will follow the visitation 11:00AM followed by a graveside service at Oak Knoll Cemetery at 2549 Shorter Ave, Rome, GA 30165 (https://www.google.com/maps/search/2549+Shorter+Ave,+Rome,+GA+30165?entry=gmail&source=g).
