Glenda Lucille Voyles

Glenda Shiflett Fortune Voyles passed away on May 29, 2026. She was born in Floyd County, the daughter of the late John Seals Shiflett and the late Argie Lou Howard.

Mrs. Voyles attended Rome High School and was employed at East Rome and West Rome Kroger for 35 years, retiring in 2000 as Front-End Manager at West Rome. She served on the board of her union, Local 1996 of Atlanta.

Following her retirement from Kroger, Mrs. Voyles worked with PROFFITS and Belk as a Sales Associate from 2000 until 2015. She also worked for ASM Marketing at Sam’s Club for several years.

Mrs. Voyles was a member of the Rome Shrine Ladies, Rome DeVilettes, and the Etowah Chapter No. 30 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a faithful member of North Rome Church of God, where she served as a greeter.

She married Alan Voyles on July 26, 2003; together they owned APC Pest Control.

In addition to her husband, Alan Voyles, survivors include her sons, John W. Fortune (Janet) and Tim Fortune (Lorie); stepdaughter Katrina Voyles; stepson Derrick Voyles; and brother-in-law Richard Voyles and his wife, Lea Voyles.

She was also blessed with grandchildren Dana Strickland, Brittany Fortune, and Matthew Fortune (Haley). She also leaves behind step-grandchildren Sandy Early (Robert), Gerrian Voyles, Blaze Voyles, Draven Voyles, Meredith, Alia, and JB Reeves.

She was further blessed with great-grandchildren Jana Early, Maggie Early, Hayden Martin, Max Stover, Ruby Singleton, Kaylee Haney, Kasidy Haney, and Carter Strickland.

Mrs. Voyles leaves behind many cherished family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Dale Byars. The Eastern Star program will follow the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Rome Church of God Choir and Orchestra Ministry, 1929 North Broad Street, Rome, Georgia 30161.
