In Loving Memory of Glory Yvonne Hubbard Culberson
March 5, 1936 – May 26, 2025
Mrs. Glory Yvonne Hubbard Culberson, age eighty-nine, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed from this life to the next on Monday, May 26, 2025. She was born on a quiet spring day, March 5, 1936, in Rockmart, Georgia, to Hugh and Velma Hubbard, whose love and labor shaped her early years.
Glory’s name suited her, as she was filled with light, dignified, and meant to linger. She was woman who understood the quiet artistry of being both graceful and grounded, she lived a life defined by devotion: to her Lord, to her family, and to the careful curation of beauty in everyday things.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh, and her mother, Velma. She also was blessed to have two great loves of her life. They each went before her to the great beyond, Frank Judd, with whom she shared thirty-six years of steadfast companionship, and later, her second husband, and high school sweetheart, Troy Culberson, whose return to her life was like the last verse of a cherished song. Her son, Charles Dewayne Crumbly, also journeyed ahead of her, as did her brother, Joseph “Butch” Hubbard, and her sister, Frankie Fricks.
Glory’s legacy continues in the lives of her children: her son Douglas G. Crumbly and his wife Daniela; her daughters, Vicki Cleveland and her husband Michael, and Lisa Watts with her husband Ronald. She is remembered lovingly by nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and 10 stepchildren, each of whom is a living echo of her laughter, her wisdom, and the gentleness of her touch.
A faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Gaylesville, Alabama, Glory lived her faith with quiet constancy. She knew the value of a well-placed scripture, a warm meal, and a prayer whispered in a still room. She was the kind of Southern lady who never left home without her hair set, her lipstick just so, and a scent of perfume that lingered like a memory in the hallway. There was a certain pride in her presentation, yet she was never vain. Glory shared that time-honored belief of many great Southern ladies, that dignity begins in the way one carries oneself through the world.
Services to honor and celebrate Glory’s life will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel, located at 2750 Shorter Avenue in Rome, Georgia, on Friday, May 29, 2025. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will follow directly at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Clay Moreland officiating. Pallbearers who will lovingly carry Glory to her final earthly rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens include Joey Cleveland, Andrew Costin, Hunter Cleveland, Ethan Nix, Tristian Kelley, and Christian Huff.
In the end, Glory leaves us with more than memories; she leaves us with an example. To live with faith, to love one's kin, and to never underestimate the grace of good grooming and good manners. That was her quiet gospel. And it will live on.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
