Harold Norman “Manny” Trapp, age 72 of Rome, Georgia was born on February 28, 1952, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23. He is survived by his wife Judy, and sons, Jacob and Joshua. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Martin, sisters, Nancy Carney, Victoria Kelley and Geraldine “Bootsie” Hamblin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Robbie Trapp, his father, Pat Trapp and his sisters, Jackie Sprayberry, Sylvia Tolbert and Barbara Bannister.
Harold was a graduate of East Rome High School. Known as “Hondo”, he was an outstanding All Star Basketball player. He enjoyed playing softball, volleyball and bowling. For years, he loved coaching his son’s baseball teams “behind the levee”. During that time, he touched the lives of many young players and developed long lasting memories and relationships with them, in particular, Troy Mullins. He loved playing his old Martin guitar, singing and listening to music for hours on his IPOD. He was an avid reader and someone you would not want to challenge to Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit. He was a lifelong Georgia Bulldogs, Falcons and Braves fan.
After retiring from International Paper, his favorite pastime was spending time with his beloved cats, Bud and Sugar, driving around in his 85 Chevy pickup truck and playing “Scratch Offs”. He had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit. He treated people with kindness and compassion and saw the good in everybody.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 between 5:00PM and 7:00PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
