Harvel Herman "Dick" Barnes, age 81, of Rome passed away Wednesday August 12, 2015 at his residence.
Mrs. Barnes was born June 17, 1934, in Cherokee County, Alabama a son of the late Jessie Barnes, and Lena Mae Reeves. He was a member of West Rome Church of God of Union Assembly. Mr. Barnes was rertired from Phar Yarns after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his 11 siblings.
Survivors include his children, Leslie (Vera) Barnes, Rome; Terry (Linda) Barnes, Rome; Michael (Wanda) Barnes, Rome; Dorothy Barnes, Summerville; Lisa (John) Peterson, Rome; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday August 17, 2015 at West Rome Church of God Union of the Assembly, with Rev. Phillip Gentry, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday August 16, 2015, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Mr. Barnes will lie instate at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
Grandson's will serve as pallbearers.
