In Loving Memory of Hubert Leroy “Buddy” Vandiver
August 26, 1950 – June 28, 2024
Hubert Leroy “Buddy” Vandiver, age 73, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, in a local hospital. Born on August 26, 1950, in Floyd County, Georgia, Buddy was the beloved son of the late Charlie Vandiver and the late Beatrice Buffington Vandiver. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Buddy was married to the love of his life, the late Patsy Knight Vandiver, with whom he shared many beautiful years. Together, they created a loving home and raised two wonderful daughters, Pamela Vandiver and Connie Vandiver, who survive him and carry forward his legacy. Buddy is also survived by his devoted sister, Bernice Nichols, and several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. His loyal and beloved cat, Mae Mae, will also miss his companionship.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Patsy, Buddy was preceded in death by his three brothers, Clyde Vanderford, Tommy Vandiver, and John Vandiver, as well as his five sisters, Bertha Hunter, Hattie Carter, Clara McIntyre, Avalene Plemons, and Evelyn Fowler.
Buddy was a dedicated and hardworking individual who owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. He founded Private Telephone Installations (PTI) and Second Choice Used Furniture, both of which were testaments to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to serving his community. Additionally, Buddy worked at Northwest Regional Hospital, where he devoted eighteen years of loyal service before retiring.
In his leisure time, Buddy had a passion for watching westerns and old sitcoms on television, a hobby that brought him much joy and relaxation. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
Join Buddy's family to Remember him at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with a Visitation on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 5:00PM till 7:00PM. The Funeral Service will take place the next day, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens. Pastor Wayne Richard will be officiating. Buddy will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers Moe McBurnett, Chris Campbell, Harley Boozer and Jon Worley.
Buddy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will never be forgotten.
