Jackie Jerome Moss (Jack), 83, died unexpectantly early Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home in Rome. Jack was born to Lois Barnes Moss and Romie Moss November 10, 1937, in Pickens County, GA. Moving to Rome at the age of four, he was a lifelong resident from that time. He graduated from Rome High School in 1955 and served six years in the Marines and Marine Reserve in his early years. He retired from a long career at the General Electric Company at the closing of the Rome plant. Many people in Rome remember him as a avid supporter for the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corp and also as a talented finished carpenter, with examples of his craftsmanship found all over Rome.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Bunch Moss, two daughters, Jo Elizabeth Moss and Angie Moss Money, and a brother, James Phillip Moss. He is survived by two children, Hunter Jerome Moss, Rome, Suzanne Moss Adaire, Orlando, Fl; one brother, Robert Lee Moss, Rome; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; three nephews; and a large extended family. Jack is also survived by Timothy Bryce Hinton, a great grandchild by marriage, of whom he is legal guardian and who he considered a son.
Services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 19th with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd. Interment, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard, will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens. Pall Bearers will J. B. Brawner, David Moss, Drew Moss, Theo Moss, Nate Moss, and Grover Bunch. Friends are invited to join the family for all services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's honor may be made to the Rome High School Marching Band.
